TRAUMA & PTSD

Dealing with trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is like traveling through a never-ending storm of pain, fear, and uncertainty. It’s carrying the weight of past experiences on your shoulders, feeling the echoes of trauma reverberate through your mind and body every day. It’s struggling to find a sense of safety and security in a world that feels relentlessly unsafe.

For trauma survivors, the struggles are profound and deeply personal. Flashbacks, nightmares, and intrusive memories can hijack your thoughts and emotions, leaving you feeling trapped in the past. Hyperarousal and hypervigilance keep you on edge, constantly scanning your surroundings for potential threats. Avoidance behaviors become a way of life, as you desperately try to numb the pain and escape the memories that haunt you.

But perhaps the most insidious struggle of all is the feeling of shame and self-blame that often accompanies trauma. Survivors may blame themselves for what happened, believing they somehow deserved the pain or could have prevented it. This internalized shame can erode self-worth and make it difficult to trust others or seek help.

However, there is hope. Dialectical Behavior Therapy Prolonged Exposure (DBTPE) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) can offer a path to healing for trauma survivors. A skilled therapist can provide a safe and compassionate space for survivors to process their trauma, confront painful memories, and rebuild a sense of safety and self-worth. Trauma survivors can learn effective coping skills to manage distressing symptoms, challenge negative beliefs about themselves and the world, and reclaim their lives from the grip of trauma.

If you’re a trauma survivor struggling to cope with the aftermath of trauma and PTSD, know that you’re not alone. Help is available, and therapy can be a powerful tool to help you navigate the journey of healing. You deserve to find peace, healing, and hope, and we can help you take the first step towards reclaiming your life.
