COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a widely recognized and evidence-based form of psychotherapy that focuses on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is rooted in the idea that our thoughts, beliefs, and perceptions influence our emotions and actions, and that by changing these cognitive patterns, we can effectively change our behaviors and improve our mental well-being.
CBT is structured and goal-oriented, typically conducted in a collaborative manner between the therapist and the client. The therapist works with the client to identify and challenge negative or distorted thought patterns, known as cognitive distortions, that contribute to emotional distress and maladaptive behaviors. By examining these thoughts and beliefs, clients gain insight into how they impact their feelings and behaviors.

THE CORE PRINCIPLES OF CBT INCLUDE

This involves identifying and challenging negative or irrational thoughts and beliefs and replacing them with more realistic and adaptive ones. By changing the way we think about situations, we can change the way we feel and behave in response to them.
